Mothers and fathers who have had their children removed are at a traumatic point in their lives. At such a desperate time, they need help and support from experienced people with professional expertise. This should be our collective responsibility. Organisations like Families in Care need our support.

Families in Care (FIC) provides an independent advocacy, counselling, mindfulness and peer support to birth parents involved with Child Protection Services.
Established by a group of parents, FIC has been a registered charity for over 30 years and is recognised as a specialist organisation by child care professionals across Tyneside.
Please note that advocacy and counselling services are currently available only
to families involved with Newcastle Children Social Services.

We offer first and final year social work placement opportunities, as well as training opportunities for parents and family law students.
Final, 100 days social work placement opportunities are offered as statutory tasks placements - please contact our team for more information.
